In a small group, we had the time today to cover a range of topics from the Substack app (and strategies for using it on a desktop), Privacy, and ways societies might benefit from using Substack.

Many thanks to

from BillMooreNY, from Tracking Down The Family, from Heines Sight, from Musings of a Storyteller, of Marci’s Stack, and of Your Family Quest for joining me in today’s live program.

I never quite know what to prepare for these sessions, and they’re always creative, different, and of the moment. I tend to think that’s part of the value. Today, we covered a range of topics in an informal and casual style. Among the topics were:

  • Surprising tips about using the Substack desktop app

  • Discoveries from Deborah Carl’s Tips series for MissionGenealogy such as

    • Mouse-over links to footnotes and publications.

  • That you don’t actually HAVE to email posts the day you publish them. (Tip: You can modify the release timing in the publish page (after the “continue” button.)

and an extended conversation about Migrations, leading us to wonder:

» Why did my ancestor migrate?

Some of these stories might be better placed in Projectkin’s new Speakers’ Corner series produced by Jennifer Jones, but you’ll undoubtedly be hearing more about that here as well.

MissionGenealogy is entirely free and supported by volunteers. Your ❤️ to this post and subscription help us get the word out. 🙇‍♀️

Next week, we’re hosting two “roundtable” discussions, which allow us to candidly talk about our work, share insights, and strategies. I hope you can join us. These are not recorded and are like a relaxed chat with friends. I hope you can join us. Please register at MissionGenealogy.org/events for your personal Zoom link.

Sometimes our tools can get the better of us, but together they don’t have to. We’re so glad to have you with us while we figure this out together. 👋
