October Roundtable Conversation is Happening!
Take the Poll. There's still time to register!
The Roundtable is back again!
Our amazing community conversations are evolving too! We will be facilitating smaller group conversations this month. We hope you can make it!
If you haven’t signed up for the Zoom link yet, you can still get in on the fun! Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM BST, 19:00 CET (Free, register for the Zoom link)
This month, our Roundtable will have Breakout Rooms.
Breakout Rooms will let you have a conversation in a smaller group.
You can go in and out of the rooms with the click of a button.
You can choose from the agreed upon topics.
How is this all going to work?
Step 1: Take Poll
Vote for your top two choices for topics. This poll is open for today only so vote early!
Note: Even though it says “top two” select only one. It turns out that you can only make one choice.
Step 2: View Results
The results of the poll will be shared right before the Roundtable in the Live Chat.
Step 3: Choose your room
When we open the breakout rooms, choose by clicking on the Room and Topic you’re interested in (from the topics chosen by the group in the poll).
Step 4: In the Room
Once you are in your breakout room, select a room leader who will also serve as the spokesperson in the larger group. The Room Leader will facilitate the conversation and share out with the larger group when the rooms close. An amount of time will be set and the rooms will close when the time is up. The Room Leader can ask someone to monitor the time.
Once you’re in a Breakout Room, do your best to stick with the topic to avoid disrupting the flow of the conversation. Follow the Mission: Genealogy Purpose & Protocol - see below.
Grab your coffee or tea and settle in for a great conversation about our favorite topic!
How the Roundtable will Work: Purpose & Protocol
Have a conversation that revolves around genealogy/family history.
Connect with each other to support the success of our Substack Publications.
Be kind to each other.
Be mindful of time when speaking. Time will be determined by the number of participants.
Once you’ve finished speaking, select the next person to speak.
There will be 2 different ways to engage during the Roundtable: It’s completely your choice.
Participants: You will have the opportunity to
You can join the conversation as a participant - as indicated by your camera being turned on. That is how the group will know you want to share.
Audience members: You can choose to enjoy the conversation, but not share.
You can indicate that you choose to be an audience member by turning off your camera. The group will know you don’t want to be called on to share if your camera is turned off.

The Roundtable is in support of the purpose behind .

Our Host and Live Chat Facilitator
Barbara Tien is our esteemed host and Robin Stewart will be facilitating the live chat.
This will be interesting Barbara. It’s a great idea and I’m looking forward to taking part
I wasn't able to make a second selection in the poll. It would have been Collaborative Research/Trees.
