Start here to learn about our mission to create a community for genealogy and family history that's a viable alternative to the noise and bravado of social media.
I caught your earlier hint about something exciting on the horizon, and this is even better than I imagined you ladies would come up with - brilliant idea and I know it will be a wonderful space and community for all us family historians and genealogists. I look forward to everything to come - thanks!
Aw shucks, thank you so much. Honestly, I'm as excited about it as you. Keep in mind though, it's a community so, we'll be doing this together. We're counting on you for your good ideas — and participation. In essence, kind of feeling our way through it together. 🤗
Thank you, Lori! I'm so looking forward to getting to know our community better. We have been inspired by the response to and enthusiasm about the Mission: Genealogy Community. My heart is full!
Greetings and thank you for this project. I am looking forward to interacting with this community. I am fortunate in my own research because my family has lived in the same smallish town in southern Italy for 500 years. And kept all its papers. My uncle already created a document supported family tree to 1480. So that part is done for me. What I am doing now is going through the family archives and trying to create biographies and historical cultural contexts for the 17 generations that came before me in the town. I am writing this in mothly free essays. I hope this might be of interest to some, and I look forward to read about the discoveries of the other writers in this community.
Oh, my goodness, Roberto, that's an incredible story. I would love to include this story in our "All About That Place" series. It's too late for our live programs Sept. 27 to October 6th, but I'll be circulating recorded and written stories one at a time starting in early September. Read more here: projectkin.substack.com/p/aatp-join-mc. Feel free to reach out or just DM me! 👋
I'm so excited to see this! I started a blog on here awhile back to write about genealogy but haven't really shared it much or done anything to promote it or form a community. I wasn't sure if I even came to the right platform for that kind of thing. Have been enjoying the writing and just started looking around more beyond that for the first time today and found your page. Very cool!!
So glad you’re joining us. We are just getting started! Our official launch is on Tuesday, August 20. I look forward to finding out more about your blog!
Jennifer, it's a delight to have you as part of this conversation. I'm afraid our first "open house" IS scheduled at an unreasonable hour for you in Australia, but one of the first orders of business will be discussing whether we have enough of an audience in the Pacific region to muster a regular roundtable discussion, office hours, and any other programming we come up with to gather a meeting at a reasonable hour for you. 🤔 I could add a poll to this article to see how many others might be interested. Stay tuned.
Oh, no... I'd hate to be responsible for keeping you awake. Put a vote in for the later hour. If that won't work for you... let's discuss. Honestly, with a little planning I could do an 8PM event Pacific time — occasionally. That's like 10 AM for you, right?

This is very exciting - finally had time to check it out!

Oh, Savanna, 🥹, THAT is precisely why we're here. We're thrilled that you found us and frankly, that we found you. Welcome to the community.

I was really pleased to read this today. I'm now retired so looking forward to joining you.

Yeah, thinking about it for about 30 seconds, I realized that would be a good idea so I did it. Take a look at open.substack.com/pub/missiongenealogy/p/roundtable-discussions-regular-community and the new poll I added toward the bottom. We have our open house scheduled next week (missiongenealogy.org/openhouse), but if there's enough interest I'd be happy to schedule another one at a more reasonable hour for you.
I just saw that it is at 3am, I’m not a good sleeper so if it’s possible I will try to attend

Have voted. Quite honestly it’s not an issue for me. I’m often on the keyboard at that time. 8pm Pacific time would def work
It was so great to see you on the call... really 3 AM you're amazing.
I wouldn’t have missed it. Loved it and looking forward to being involved in the community you’re creating.
