Our Substack live session today failed but instead we had a lively Q&A session over Zoom. I hope you find this recording helpful in your own work. Have questions, drop them in the comments.
Thank you, Barbara. Now's the time to experiment while we're all learning together. Sadly, after 30 minutes of Mission Genealogy on Zoom, it crashes, and I have to reboot my computer. It only happens with Mission Genealogy. (Frowny Face) Maybe next time I'll try my Kindle or phone.
Thanks for discovering the Index tab was broken. I've fixed it.
The video crashes after 30 minutes? No other video crashes like that? Oh… that’s weird. Saving first then trying myself.
Just for giggles, or perhaps to see the whole video… (and when you’ve got time to burn rebooting your computer) you can try the same video on YouTube… It plays fine for me despite the Zoom-introduced blurry video and hops-skips in the audio.
The recording is fine. It’s when I’m live with you on Zoom. Every single time. I know the problem’s on my end. I just reboot my computer. It’s old so it takes about 15 minutes before I can rejoin the meeting. First World problems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwvlbJ0h35A
🤦♀️ I feel your pain. I lived with an old MacBook Pro with a dying and obsolete GPU for years, having it crash on me at an ever-increasing rate. Looking back I have no idea how I produced pandemic-era booth videos during the pandemic. Hang in there. I feel your First World Problems. 😉
I am glad I was able to help you. You are welcome! Being in this Substack community is just like being in the FamilySearch community where we used to collaborate closely like this. This was my first Office Hours, and this is my favorite group.
Well now, that’s high praise. Thank you so much. It’s fabulous to have you here. You intuitively understand the kind of generous community we’re working so hard to build.🥰
You don't need to apologize. After we got on Zoom I thought the session was very informative. Thanks for all your hard work and helping us navigate Substack (among other things).

I am so happy to be a part of this.

You're so kind to say so. The warmth and support of this incredible community made it all worthwhile. We all learned a thing or two today.
